Can ovarian cysts prevent your period from coming? I went to the doctors and had an ultra sound,due to my missed periods.And It showed that I has multiple cysts on both ovaries.I have no other symptoms of PCOS,and the doctor said nothing about it.Just that she would put me on birth control and provera,and that I was perfectly fine.I just turned 18 and I have always been regular and healthy,what causes these cysts and how do you know if it’s PCOS? is there any other types of Ovarian cysts that do the same thing? (without PCOS symptoms..Acne,weight gain,insulin resistance..etc) I’m very confused about all this,and I want to know what I should be looking for,Incase I do need to get another doctor.

Clomid and pre-existing ovarian cysts?

Hi,
I recently was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. The infertility specialist did a vaginal ultrasound and confirmed it. He gave me a five-day prescription for Provera and then scheduled an appointment the second week in July to follow up and start Clomid. I have been doing a lot of research (well, Google and WebMD haha) and I am reading many different stories. Obviously the doctor will go over everything, but I want to know right now… I am going crazy because my husband and I have been TTC for thirteen months and then I was fiiinally transferred to a specialist (husband is in the Army and the medical insurance is NOTHING to write home about). Anyway, like I said, I know the doctor will go over this all… I just want some input now.
I have read that the cysts need to be reduced before I can even start on Clomid. Is this true? He told me that at the next appointment, he would prescribe my first round of Clomid. Then other places that I read that they started Clomid right away and Clomid actually caused cysts.
If he starts me on Clomid right away and we conceive, would the cysts cause pregnancy complications? He told me that he thinks we will have no trouble whatsoever conceiving probably within three rounds of Clomid. I am hopeful, but do not want to get my hopes up because we have gotten our hopes up many times before.
Any input or information or personal experience that anyone can provide would be sooo greatly appreciated.

Will ovarian cysts cause pregnancy complications (read for details)?

Hi,
My husband and I have been TTC for a while and I finally got a referral to see an infertility specialist. He confirmed that I have ovarian cysts. He put me on Provera and I start my first round of Clomid in four days. My question is… are the cysts going to cause complications if we conceive on Clomid?
I know a girl who also had cysts and her doctor "cleared up her ovaries" before starting her on Clomid. I’m not sure what he did to "clear them up", we’re not friends, she’s a friend of a friend, so I don’t talk to her.
I just want to make sure that if we do conceive on my first round that it’s not going to end up in a miscarriage because of the cysts. Has anyone else had cysts and conceived? And had a healthy, full-term pregnancy?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that he was not at all concerned about the cysts themselves. He said that they are not cancerous and he said they are small and I shouldn’t have problems with them bursting. I just didn’t know if being pregnant could make the odds go up of having lots of complications. I am willing to deal with the complications if it will give us a healthy child, all we want is a family.
He put me on Clomid because the cysts are causing me to not ovulate or have a period. So I need help ovulating in order to conceive.
