Can an ovarian cyst cause any damage?

Around June-August of this year, I went to the hospital to some really bad abdominal pains. At first my mom thought they were something to do with the gall bladder or kidneys (And it couldn’t have been my appendix because I had an appendectomy when I was six) so she took me to the hospital.
When they gave us our results, they said it was there was a cyst on my right ovary. At first, they made it seem so innocent, but when I went to several other doctors they said that there are two types of cysts. A hemorrhage cyst which probably developed from my last period which is more tricky (They explained that if it gives me pain, it could twist the ovary and cut off my blood supply, reducing my chances of living) and the original kind that just stays attached to me and doesn’t do too much damage.
When I went back to the hospital, they explained it’s very important that whenever I get the pain, is to rush to the hospital. Then another time they said it wasn’t too important and just to give me Tylenol if the pain began as if it was nothing. Tomorrow, I’m going back for another MRI to see how the cyst is doing. My period is coming up in a few days (or hours) and I’m wondering if an ovarian cyst in my case is dangerous or nothing to worry about.
Just for some back info, I discovered this around late july to early august and it’s now going to december. I’m a 14 year old girl and i’m about 109 lbs. The only person who ever had this same condition in my family was my aunt to my mom’s side.

They actually said a mix of what the doctor and hospital told me. When i went there, the doctor tried to break my hymen so they could "feel" the cyst. Very tramatizing for me xP but they did give some good advice and the doctor was very helpful…and so was your answer

ovarian cysts?

This might sound like a stupid question but my mom is giving me a hard time about going to Six Flags because I have a cyst on my left ovary, she thinks going on the rides might cause it to hurt or something ? Is it okay to go on rides or will the pressure cause it to rupture or something

are there any symptoms to ruptured ovarian cysts?

Hi,
I am 16 years old and have 2 ovarian cysts. one is on my right side that is the size or a golf ball and one is one my left side that is the size of a baseball i can’t even begin to describe how pain-full they are. They were discovered during a gyn appotinment in July ’09. Since then everyday is like a living hell and my mom wont take me to the doctor for them. (See I was at a rehab and they took me to the gyn) But I don’t know what is going on with me…. I just had sex 2 weeks ago and the guy thrusted really had that it hurt extreamllyy baddd and that i blead … soo did a cysts rupture? PS: it wasn’t my 1st time have sex … and I havent’ gotten my period since then and i have a very bloated lower stomach and bladder area since the day after … wht happened?
please help …

Ovarian cysts?

I’m pretty sure I have one and I’m going to the doctor soon I think but I always leak and if I have an ovarian cyst could that be why?
Thanks so much! I’m trying to gather as much information as possible and then tell my mom I need to go to the doctor because summer is coming up and I leak all the time so I have to wear pads because it smells too so something isn’t right.
I’m just trying to get an idea of what’s going on before going to the doctor. Thanks again
Ovarian cysts…?

I have this really bad pain in my groin area and it shoots down my left leg… it will last about two days… and is always after my period it seems like. Then it will come back about a month later. Its always the same leg… and my mom had ovarian cysts a few years ago and she had one rupture. I’m pretty sure they said this was hereditary… anyways, I don’t have health insurance because I just got married a few months ago and haven’t been put on my husbands yet so i’m not sure if I should just go to the med clinic to have it checked out or what to do. but I can hardly move my leg right now. What to do? Thanks!
