Hi,

I recently was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. The infertility specialist did a vaginal ultrasound and confirmed it. He gave me a five-day prescription for Provera and then scheduled an appointment the second week in July to follow up and start Clomid. I have been doing a lot of research (well, Google and WebMD haha) and I am reading many different stories. Obviously the doctor will go over everything, but I want to know right now… I am going crazy because my husband and I have been TTC for thirteen months and then I was fiiinally transferred to a specialist (husband is in the Army and the medical insurance is NOTHING to write home about). Anyway, like I said, I know the doctor will go over this all… I just want some input now.

I have read that the cysts need to be reduced before I can even start on Clomid. Is this true? He told me that at the next appointment, he would prescribe my first round of Clomid. Then other places that I read that they started Clomid right away and Clomid actually caused cysts.

If he starts me on Clomid right away and we conceive, would the cysts cause pregnancy complications? He told me that he thinks we will have no trouble whatsoever conceiving probably within three rounds of Clomid. I am hopeful, but do not want to get my hopes up because we have gotten our hopes up many times before.

Any input or information or personal experience that anyone can provide would be sooo greatly appreciated.

ok so like two years ago, i had a really bad pain, after having sex, where i couldnt move and i was in a fetal like position, and i went to the ER and i got ultrasounds and they told me i had softball sized cysts on my ovaries. and so they told me to go get on birth control and i did, and i havent had the pain since.

Last night i got the same exact pain (during sex, and then we stopped) for well over an hour, and i am pretty sure it is because of my cysts. the pain is undescriable, but its like having a miscarrage ( only no blood) I stopped taking birth control this past feb, and i havent had a period since.

so my question is, can ovarian cysts cause you to not have a period? and can they cause infertility? i now do not have any medical insurance, and i do not want to pay full price to go to the doctors, considering that they will probably do ultrasounds and they are pricey. what are your opinions on what i should do? have you had them before? what happened?
