An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac in or on the ovary. Many ovarian cysts are noncancerous cysts that occur as a result of ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). These are called functional cysts. Functional cysts normally shrink on their own over time, usually in about 1 to 3 months. Often functional cysts do not cause any symptoms (you may not even know you have one), but other times they can cause abdominal pain, menstrual irregularities, nausea and vomiting. If you have a functional cyst, your doctor may want to check you again in 1 to 3 months to make sure the cyst has gotten smaller. If you develop functional cysts often, your doctor may want you to take birth control pills so you won’t ovulate. If you don’t ovulate, you won’t form functional cysts.

why was this procedure done??? what was the purpose of it?
holy crap!! your positive that was an ovarian cycts that was massive!! ive had several extremely large ones but nothin like that!!!
I have to get this done 2marrow gahhhh!!!!
A cyst can keep growing and burst inside you and can cause extreme pain so they drain it and take it out of you a cyst can grow anywhere on any1 male or female I had one removed the other day
Coooooooooooool!
I am having this procedure done in the upcoming week and I am ready. Ovarian cysts are absolutely terrible. My latest cysts is about the size of two golf balls and I have had incredibly severe pain. The doctors normally do a ultrasound to find the cysts, then give you pain killers and birth control. If that doesn’t help, then they will do the simple surgery.
If the cyst burst, it can cause EXTREME pain. If the cyst is big enough you can pass out. Normally people have it removed because the everyday pain is too intense to live with.
so they first suctioned the pus from the cyst while it’s still inside the ovary, then pull out the deflated cyst?
kinda like a cholecystecomy.
I know what you’re talking about cause I’m there now! Mine showed up on a CT scan. I see my doctor tomorrow.
Yeah, it’s a pretty similar procedure to a cholecystectomy. You don’t always need to suction the bile from the gallbladder thought, but it’s pretty common when there are a lot of lithiasis, cause it’s impossible to get it out from the ombilic opening.
Wow that was huge compared 2 the hand there. I’m having mine out tomorrow as well. I’ve been bothered for years & just can’t take it anymore. I had a vaginal ultrasound after they found it on a contrast mri. It’s huge and painful. These can effect your bowels also. I want the little devil gone! They come and go. So they r taking everything out this time.
I had one of these 8 years ago. It was the size of a softball. My doc said it wouldn’t puncture so my Laparoscopy turned into an oopherctomy. Luckily she saved the ovary. I still numb where the scar is, though. I had the way it feels.

I’m so scared of getting these, since I have PCOS… did you see the teeth and eyeball growing out of the cyst? Scary!
