Hair loss caused by birth control?
I have 16 years and I take the birth control pill Gynera. I switched over from another pill (I forget the name), because they sell it where I live now, and now after having been drinking for a few months I have had noticeable hair loss. In the shower threads and strands of hair to fall out, the same as when I comb my hair, and even at school my friends to point out my hair on the table or the ground around me. Should I talk to my doctor about switching to a new pill (and what kind of pill should I ask?) or is this normal and should I continue? I took my first pill brand around March August '09 to '09 and then I started my new (gynera) around October '09.
Birth control is a major reason for loss hair in women. It would be good to talk to your doctor as soon as possible The longer the hair loss continues, the less likely it is to correct the situation. Changing birth control can lead to a condition called telogen effluvium – which is diffuse hair loss throughout your head, without a particular pattern of loss hair. Your hormones need to be stabilized before the hair loss stops. In general, means the interruption of birth control until the situation be rectified. Google and telogen effluvium birth control, explains everything in detail. Good luck.
